Inspired by Fabric, Fueled by Passion...

My love for textiles began when I was a child. I was always drawn to fabrics, textures, colours, and the tools used to bring them to life. I still remember being fascinated by the sewing machine whenever I watched my mum creating something—it felt like magic.

That early curiosity led me to study Textile Engineering at university. After graduating, I worked in the textile industry for seven years, gaining valuable experience with manufacturers and liaison offices. This gave me the chance to collaborate with leading European brands and deepened my understanding of production processes, fabric selection, pricing, and turning ideas into finished products.

In 2014, EZIGN was born (originally called Watermelon Design). I started with an Etsy shop, and slowly, things began to grow. What began as a passion has now become a full-time creative journey—designing and making handmade textiles from my home studio in Canterbury, UK.

Designing with Purpose, Inspired by Nature

My biggest inspiration when choosing materials—especially fabrics—comes from nature. I love working with prints that reflect the beauty of the natural world, as well as solid colours that remind us of the calm and richness of Mother Nature.

The creation of a new product often starts with a personal need or a request from someone close to me. I begin by drafting the pattern and making an initial sample to test the idea. After evaluating the first version, I revise the pattern and create another sample if needed.

I almost always use the first sample myself to test its functionality. Sometimes I also ask my mum or sister for feedback—they’re my most honest testers! Once I feel happy with the final version, I photograph the product and write up the description to get everything ready for the online shop.
